ACCUMULATION

Copyright (c) 2010 João Pedro Neto, Bill Taylor

Accumulation is played on a 5x5 hexagonal board with this setup:

  • GROUP - A chain of one or more connected stones of the same color.
  • MOVE - On his turn, the player either
    • slides a whole group in the same direction, if the destination and intervening spaces are empty
    • removes a single stone
    • pass
  • GOAL - The game end when both players pass: the winner is the player who finishes up with the largest connected group or, if these are equal, whoever achieved that size first.

An example

Black's turn.

White is just four moves away to connect all stones. Black can try to move is group of size four southeast to try to enclosure the corner white stone, giving himself time to gather all his remaining stones.
